David P. Smith, DDS
Dr. David P. Smith was born in Harriman, Tennessee and grew up in Oliver Springs. He graduated from Oliver Springs High School in 1969 and Tennessee Technological University four years later with a B.S. in Chemistry. Over the next several years, he worked for the Biology Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Molecular Genetics while furthering his education at East Tennessee State University, where he graduated with an M.S. in Microbiology and Biochemistry. Dr. David graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1983.
After practicing in Knoxville for several years, he was pleased to join his brother Dr. Steve to serve his hometown community. He's now been practicing at Smith Family Dentistry for over 30 years.
Dr. David and his wife Debbie Hobbs Smith have four children: Dr. Daniel Smith, Kevin, Maleah, and Rebekah. His hobbies include golf, landscaping, and woodwork.
Steve N. Smith, DDS
Dr. Steve Smith, an Oliver Springs native, took his first job in 4th grade helping his brothers deliver newspapers for the Knoxville News Sentinel. He graduated from Oliver Springs High School in 1973 and received his B.A. degree from Carson Newman College in 1977 as a History/Political Science and Biology major. Dr. Steve graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1981 and returned to his hometown to set up a practice with Dr. Fred O. Stone, DDS.
He established Smith Family Dentistry in 1983, and Dr. David joined the practice a few years later. He was also elected to the Roane County Board of Education in 1983, where he served for 12 years. In 1992, Dr. Steve joined the National Guard and served with the 668 Medical Detachment. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1996.
Dr. Steve and his wife Margie Dykes Smith still live in Oliver Springs today, and together they have three children: Andrew, Sarah, and Rachel. He is a proud mentor at Beech Park Baptist Church, and he's blessed to be able to provide dental care on mission trips to Nicaragua, Peru, Chile, and more. Dr. Steve enjoys the outdoors, water sports, hiking, biking, and spending time with his family.
Daniel D. Smith, DDS
Dr. Daniel Smith graduated with honors from Carson-Newman College in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in political science. He then attended the University of Tennessee where he graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Dentistry in 2007 with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Dr. Daniel spent four years on active duty as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy, including a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency and a two-year stint as a dental officer aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. During those two years, his ship deployed twice to the North Arabian Sea in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Dr. Daniel is married to his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth, and together they have four little girls: Reagan, Bella Grace, Lenlee, and Dahlia. His hobbies include reading, golf, running, politics, and music. He is proud to join his father and uncle in serving Smith Family Dentistry's growing patient base.
